Import and Export Charts
You never type a big table twice. Bring charts in from almost anywhere, and take them out whenever you want — export is available on every plan, including Free.
Import sources
Section titled “Import sources”The Import page accepts:
| Source | How it works |
|---|---|
| Clipboard | Copy any table (from a spreadsheet, docs, or email) and paste it — CSV, TSV, and HTML all work |
| CSV file | Upload a .csv (or .txt, .html) file and it’s read like a paste |
| JSON file | Upload a previously exported qivra-size-chart/v3 JSON — useful for copying between stores |
| Web URL | Give a supplier’s page (e.g. https://supplier.com/size-guide) and the app fetches its tables |
| Product description | Scan your existing product descriptions for size tables — no re-typing for stores with charts already in descriptions |
The import flow
Section titled “The import flow”Whatever the source, the flow is the same — review first, nothing is saved until you say so:
Step 1: Choose the source
Section titled “Step 1: Choose the source”Pick a source chip, then drop a file, paste your table, or enter a URL and click Fetch.
Step 2: Review “What we read”
Section titled “Step 2: Review “What we read””The app shows the table it parsed, fully editable:
- Cells it found hard to read are highlighted and counted in a banner — everything is editable before anything is saved.
- Column names can be renamed in place.
- Chart name — give it a name (defaults to “Imported chart”).
Step 3: Check what was detected
Section titled “Step 3: Check what was detected”Under Detected, confirm or change:
- Unit system — metric or imperial, guessed from the numbers’ pattern.
- Measures — body or garment. Required: if the source gives no clue, you must choose — imports never guess this silently.
- Size system — Alpha (XS–XL) or numeric.
- Units found — the units detected in column headers (e.g. cm, in, kg). Per-column units can be changed afterwards in the chart editor.
- Rows · columns — the shape it read.
Step 4: Create the chart
Section titled “Step 4: Create the chart”Click Create chart from this. The chart opens in the editor, where you can fine-tune everything before assigning it.
Scanning product descriptions
Section titled “Scanning product descriptions”The Product description source scans your products in batches for size tables:
- Choose the source and scan — each scan covers a batch of products.
- Duplicated tables are merged: if 50 products share one table, that’s one chart, not fifty.
- A toast reports how many distinct charts were found across how many products; keep scanning to cover your catalog.
This is the shortest migration path for stores that already have size charts pasted into product descriptions.
Export
Section titled “Export”Charts → Export all downloads a single JSON file containing:
- every chart (with its tables, measurement type, and fit data),
- your master template and styling tokens,
- every assignment rule with conditions.
Exports use the qivra-size-chart/v3 format — the same format the JSON import accepts — so you can back up, clone into another store, or leave with your data at any time. Export is not gated by plan.
