Back-in-Stock Notifications Setup

Back-in-stock notifications let customers subscribe to alerts when products are out of stock, so they are automatically notified by email when inventory becomes available again. This helps you capture sales you would otherwise lose.

For in-depth guides, see the Back-in-Stock documentation section.

When a product is out of stock:

  • Customers see a “Notify me when available” button instead of “Add to Cart”
  • Customers enter their email in a popup to subscribe
  • When inventory is restocked, subscribers receive an automatic email notification
  • Subscribers click Add to cart or View item in the email to purchase

The feature lives in its own Back in Stock section in the app, with three tabs:

TabWhat you do there
ProductsChoose where the Notify Me button shows for each product
SubscribersView and filter everyone who signed up
SettingsCustomize the email and the signup button

Step 1: Configure Button Visibility per Product

Section titled “Step 1: Configure Button Visibility per Product”

The Products tab lists your catalog and controls where the Notify Me button appears for each product/variant.

  1. Open Qivra PreOrder from your Shopify admin
  2. Go to Back in Stock > Products
  3. For each product or variant, set the Button visibility:
    • When out of stock (default) — the button only appears when the item is sold out
    • Always show — the button appears even when the item is in stock
    • Never show — no Notify Me button for this product/variant
  4. Use the search box and filters to find products by title or SKU
  5. Click Save to apply your changes

You can also switch between By Variant and By Product views to manage items at the right level of detail, and each product shows its current stock status (In Stock / Out of Stock).

Customize everything shoppers see: button text per page type (product, collection, home), the subscribe popup, and confirmation messages.

  1. Go to Back in Stock > Settings
  2. In the Signup Button section, set the button text and enable/disable each page type (custom CSS is optional - the button follows your theme by default)
  3. In the Popup section, customize the popup title, description, email placeholder, subscribe button text, and privacy note
  4. In the Confirmation section, adjust the toast messages and colors
  5. Click Save on the save bar

See Customize the Notify Me Button for details.

Decide what subscribers receive when the product is back:

  1. In Back in Stock > Settings, scroll to the Notification Email section
  2. Toggle Enable back-in-stock email to turn notifications on
  3. Choose a preset (Minimal, Detailed, or Friendly) or customize the sender, subject, heading, description, and logo
  4. Use Send test email to preview the message in your own inbox
  5. Click Save on the save bar

See Customize the Restock Email for details.

You do not need to trigger notifications manually:

  1. Qivra continuously monitors your inventory (Shopify inventory webhooks plus a scheduled check every minute)
  2. When a watched product is restocked, pending subscribers are matched automatically
  3. Subscribers waiting for a single product are notified right away
  4. Subscribers watching several products receive one consolidated email containing every restocked item, so customers are never spammed
  5. Each subscriber’s status changes from Pending to Sent (or Failed if delivery fails) in the Subscribers tab
  1. Go to Back in Stock > Subscribers
  2. Search by email or product, and filter by status (Pending, Sent, Failed) and date
  3. Review the total subscriber count and follow up if needed

See Manage Subscribers for details.

  1. Pick an out-of-stock product (or set a product’s inventory to 0 in Shopify)
  2. Open the product page on your storefront and confirm the Notify Me button appears
  3. Subscribe with your own email address
  4. Increase the product’s inventory in Shopify
  5. Check your inbox for the restock email (usually within a minute)
  • The Qivra PreOrder app embed must be enabled in your theme — see Enable App Embed
  • Inventory must be tracked for the product in Shopify so stock changes can be detected
