Translate Label Text
If your shop sells in multiple languages, you can print Custom text slots in the shopper’s language — e.g. a “100% cotton” claim on a product label in English, French, and German. This guide explains how translations work end to end.
How label translation works
Section titled “How label translation works”- A template contains one or more Custom text slots (other fields like SKU, title, or price always print the store data as-is).
- On the Translations page, you provide a translation of each custom text for each of your shop’s enabled languages.
- When creating a print job, you pick the Label language. The app prints the matching translation — or the base text when no translation exists.
Step 1: Add a Custom text slot
Section titled “Step 1: Add a Custom text slot”- Go to Label templates and open a template with Edit (or create a new one).
- Click Add slot, choose the Custom text field, and type your base wording (e.g. “100% cotton”).
- Save the template.
See Create and edit a label template for the full editor walkthrough.
Step 2: Translate it
Section titled “Step 2: Translate it”- Go to Translations.
- Pick the template from the Template selector.
- The table shows one row per custom text slot — the Base text column on the left, one column per shop language on the right (the shop’s default language is marked default).
- Fill in the translation for each language. Leaving a cell empty means that language falls back to the base text.
- Click Save translations.
Step 3: Choose the language when printing
Section titled “Step 3: Choose the language when printing”- Go to New print job.
- Next to the template selector, pick a Label language — Shop default or one of your languages. (The selector appears when your shop has more than one language enabled.)
- Continue creating the job as usual — labels print with the translation for the chosen language.
- Keep custom text short: translations can run longer than the base text, especially on small labels like Avery 5167.
- You can also use the Combined line slot’s custom text part with translations — it behaves the same way.
- Reprint an old job re-uses the language it was created with, stored in its template snapshot.
